The transition from analogue to digital technology is the most revolutionary change in the field of electronic media since the end of monochrome TV trasmission in favour of colour or the introduction of stereo broadcasting on FM radio. Action Plan eEurope 2005: An Information Society for All proposes 2012 as the deadline for the digitization of broadcasting media; at the same time, the European Commission takes the stand that there is no universal model for the transition to digital broadcasting, since each market has its own unique character, principles and solutions

This symposium dealing with developments in digital television in Poland and the new possibilities for television in a future era when various media have converged and multiplatform broadcasting has become standard was organized in collaboration with ATM Grupa SA, the largest independent television producers in Poland
