Polish Audiovisual Publishers

Polish Audiovisual Publishers was established on September 2005 as a government institution, which aim is to promote Polish culture, science and education in audiovisual media.

The main assignment of PWA is a professional recording of the most important artistic undertakings in the country, especially music, theatre, opera, art and literature events, as well as their propagation in Polish and international media. In a broader scope, the initiatives of  PWA are taken to establish a video collection of Polish contemporary culture. The selected events are recorded in HDTV format.

The PWA range of interests also includes the problem of searching for a new language and forms of transmission. That is why PWA is also the initiator of research in a field of social communication.
Polish Audiovisual Publishers co-operates with Polish and international cultural, educational and scientific institutions, organs of government and local government administration, as well as non-governmental organizations and media in Poland and abroad.

The Polish Film Institute was established to promote Polish films and to re-establish the status of Polish cinema around the world.  Its main goal is to support the production of the largest possible number of films of a high artistic calibre that will appeal to national and international audiences; almost 70% of the Institute's budget is designated for this purpose, with priority given to the funding of debuts and second films.

In 2006 the Institute devoted 78 million PLN to subsidizing 702 projects in the field of cinematography. Among them were 44 feature films, (including 21 international co-productions), 86 documentaries and 16 animated films. 

The Polish Film Institute funds all stages of Polish cinematography projects, from development through production, promotion and distribution, as well as undertakings aimed at promoting film culture, modernizing the cinema infrastructure and continuing the education of filmmakers.

The Polish Film Institute has funded a special non-statutory award amounting to 5000 Euros for a documentary film presented in the Prix Visionica competition.
